परिचय

एक ऐसा पेड़ जिसकी सुरक्षा में पुलिस 24 घंटे तैनात रहते हैं।यह सुनने में अटपटा लगता हैं। मगर सत्य है,जिस प्रकार प्रधानमंत्री, रास्ट्रपति एवं अन्य vip की सुरक्षा में,सुरक्षा बल तैनात रहते हैं। ठीक उसी तरह।

यह पेड़ मध्यप्रदेश की राजधानी भोपाल और विदिशा के बीच सलामतपुर की पहाड़ी पर स्थित हैं तथा इसकी सुरक्षा में तीन या चार की संख्या में पुलिस 24 घंटे निगरानी में रहते हैं। तथा इस पेड़ की सिंचाई के लिए सांची नगरपालिका द्वारा पानी की टैंकर मुहैया की जाती हैं तथा कृषि विभाग द्वारा भी समय-समय पर देख-रेख किया जाता हैं। जिससे सरकार को लगभग 12-13 लाख खर्च आता हैं। यह पीपल का पेड़ हैं। जिसे 2012 में श्रीलंका के राष्ट्रपति महिंद्रा राजपक्षे द्वारा लगाया गया था। इसे बोधि वृक्ष के नाम से भी जाना जाता हैं।

चूँकि भगवान बुद्ध को ज्ञान की प्राप्ति 531 ई० में पीपल के पेड़ के नीचे हुई थी। इसलिए बौद्ध धर्म को मानने वाले लोग इस वृक्ष को बहुत ही खास मानते हैं एवं इसकी पूजा करते है।

बोधि वृक्ष के बारे में कुछ महत्वपूर्ण जानकारी

जैसा कि ज्ञात हैं, सम्राट अशोक द्वारा अपने बेटे महेंद्र एवं बेटी संधमित्रा को बौद्ध धर्म के प्रचार-प्रसार के लिए इस वृक्ष की एक टहनी लेकर श्रीलंका भेजा गया था। तथा इस टहनी को श्रीलंका के अनुराधपुराम में लगाया गया था। जो आज भी मौजूद हैं।

लेकिन मना जाता हैं कि भगवान बुद्ध को जिस पेड़ के नीचे ज्ञान की प्राप्ति हुई थी वह बिहार के गया जिला में हैं जिसे अनेकों बार नष्ट करने का प्रयास किया गया मगर वहाँ फिर से नए पेड़ उग आए। 1876 में प्राकृतिक आपदा के कारण पेड़ नष्ट हो गया था। तब श्रीलंका के अनुराधपुराम में लगाई हुई टहनी को लाकर यहाँ प्रतिस्थापित किया गया। जो आज भी मौजूद है।
